Uche Fuels Straightforward Crystal Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite entering their first-ever continental campaign, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Without star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a commanding result that all but guarantees them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another three points in their upcoming fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight passage to the last 16, particularly following a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Grasp the Moment

This match offered a chance for several Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second start after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, scoring for the second consecutive succession.

The Shelbourne side that had finished their league season were no match against a largely rotated Palace lineup. The Londoners were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg injuries.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.

A solitary worry for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
