Similar to Storm Claudia swept through the northern region the previous evening, City swept United aside at the Etihad. It was a statement 3-0 triumph for the City coach's side owing to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a performance that clearly signaled their leadership claims as they strengthened their place at the WSL pinnacle.

Back-to-Back Losses for Manchester United

This outcome marked successive WSL defeats for Marc Skinner’s side for the maiden instance since May 2024, placing them a sizable gap off the table toppers with their trophy ambitions in serious doubt.

The Red Devils' ability to juggle domestic and continental football with a small team has been a hotly discussed subject since they earned a place in the Champions League. Former Manchester City player Park came closest, rattling the post, but the away team were creatively abject and failed to register a solitary shot on goal.

The hosts, meanwhile, could have extended their cushion when a delightful Miedema pass sent Shaw away only for her to miss the chance but it did not affect the result to the winning team.
